A Saturday Song...

I am getting ready to take my two lovely girls to get a bagel...and maybe a coffee for me, and then we are going to sit in the sun and they are going to tell me all about the trials and tribulations of being a 5 year old and 7 year old.  

Oh, to go back to getting chased by boys on the playground and riding bikes for hours, collecting friends along the way : )

The Friday Five...

This ended up being a really hard week, but there were a few moments that made me smile along the way... all of which happened during our day trip to Grandfather Mountain this past weekend.

Here are my five...

{ The leaves were just beginning to turn, but the sky was a deep blue
that was perfect for the white, fluffy clouds that filled it }

{ The mountains were covered with this flower/weed.  It was really lovely. }

{ See those things that look like skinny trees on the top of the mountain? 
Those are actually lots and lots of crazy people.  The last place I would want to be
is in a crowd on the edge of a cliff. Good for them though : )  }

{ Have you ever seen a cuter face?
I just wanted to go cuddle with him...but I decided I had better not : )  }

{ I love looking at this thing, much more than looking through it! }

Sometimes, there are days that smiles are a little harder to come by...and laughter...forget about it.  Sometimes, when you think you forgot what joy feels like, it helps to see JOY in other people.

Have you seen this?...Banksy has invaded NYC

This month, street artist Banksy is revealing his new show/artist residency called Better Out Than In on the streets of New York City.  What is so interesting about this show, besides the fact that no one personally knows who Banksy actually is, is that his show is not taking place in a museum.  In spite of the fact that his artwork is selling in auction houses, such as Sotheby's and Christie's in London, for millions of dollars, Banksy's new art show will be comprised of new pieces of street art being unveiled each day on the streets of NYC.

I have long thought of Banksy as a genius, but this new feat elevates the idea of "fine art" and public consumption and interaction with art to a new level.  The first piece to show up was the one pictured above.  It was painted over within 24 hours.  One of the most interesting things about this new show, is that it is a challenge for true art lovers to find the new art work before it is destroyed.  If you are on of the lucky ones to see the work, before it is vandalized, there is a phone number you can call to get a description that is somewhat tongue in cheek about the motivation behind the piece.  Call this number - 1 800 656 4271#1 to hear the description for the piece above.
