Can't Wait!!!..."Saving Mr. Banks"

Take a beloved series of children's books...which are turned into an iconic cinematic production... and then... years and years later...there comes a movie that tells you how both came to be.  I LOVE it already.  Tom Hanks as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson as P.L. Travers- two of my favorite actors telling a story that I believe I have always wanted to know...even though I never knew that there was a story to hear. Strange how that happens : )

Can't Wait!!! : "Renoir"

Give me a heart-wrenching...I can not breathe without you...love story.  Give me a beautiful background full of artwork and amazing scenery.  Give me a soundtrack full of hauntingly beautiful classical music.  Give me the passionate French language...with subtitles of course : )  Give me insight into how one of the founders of Impressionism lived.

Give me one of these things, and I am happy.  

Give me all of these things, and I am in heaven. 

My love affair with Renoir started when I was 9 and I asked my mom to buy me the first piece of artwork I was to own- a print of the Renoir painting, "Girl With a Watering Can".  As the years have gone by, my love of art has evolved, but Renoir will always represent the beginning for me.

Can't Wait!!!: Les Miserables

When I was a sophomore in high school, my parents went to London, and while there, they saw Les Miserables. They brought back the 10th anniversary cd set and I fell in love.  I listened to it all the time- it appealed to everything dramatic... and romantic ...and tragic within me.  It would be another 12 years before I saw the musical in person, but I am glad for it.  It's kind of like reading a book before you see the movie- it gives you time to envision every scene.  You become the director inside your own head.  For Les Mis, there has been a unique opportunity to read the book, watch the musical, hear the cd and now...see the movie.

With Tom Hooper, the director of "The King's Speech", and actors such as Hugh Jackman, Russel Crowe, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter, it seems as if Les Mis will finally be brought to the big screen in all of it's glory.  I don't know if I will be rushing out on Christmas Day, (I have never gone to a movie on Christmas day), but you just might see me out there the day after.  Can't Wait!!!

I am familiar with zombies...in fact they are a common theme in our family.  Jason and I are obsessed with "The Walking Dead" on AMC, we own "Zombieland" and "28 Days Later" and watch them regularly....and here is a a bit of info I deliberately don't share with many people...Jason kills zombies 2-3 times a weeks with a few work friends- in a video game...of course.

So, I was super excited to see a movie coming out that tells a different side of the zombie story- the zombie's story.  I think it is going to be funny, maybe a bit gory, but definitely funny.  I am on board for anything Nicholas Hoult- the awkward kid from "About a Boy" does.  Anyone who can do awkward that well...will definitely be able to make us love an introspective zombie.  Can't Wait!!! 

Can't Wait: or can I? "Francine"

Every once in a while comes that movie...you watch the preview...and you think "Great. I have to see this, but I am going to feel like crap afterwards." It was that way with "Dead Man Walking" and "Monster" and "Mystic River"...and now comes "Francine".  In this film, Melissa Leo is in 99% of all footage and barely utters a word the whole time.  After watching the preview, I felt anxious...and sad.  And I knew that I WILL see this movie.  Sometimes, the best movies are the ones that don't leave you laughing, or cuddling up to the love of your life...sometimes, the best movies are the ones that leave you questioning everything you thought you had answered. 

Can't Wait!!!!..."Seven Psychopaths"

I LOVE quirky...wierdo movies- movies that develop around a concept I have never seen or could never have imagined!  I don't think you could ever come up with a more ingenious group of people than Christopher Walken, Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell and Colin Farrell- they have all done amazing work as dramatic actors, but their ability to make me laugh is why I love them all.  Can't Wait!

1:43 - 1:52 is absolutely brilliant! As if I needed more of a reason to love Christopher Walken.  

Can't Wait!!! : Life of Pi

Once in a while, comes along a movie that is absolutely visually stunning...so much so, that it is very difficult to follow the storyline.  "Life of Pi" is sure to be such a movie.  Ang Lee has long been renowned  for producing cinematic masterpieces. I have loved him ever since I saw "Eat Drink Man Woman" ...and he blew my mind with "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "Brokeback Mountain".    It looks as if Ang Lee has brought the magic to another story...another culture...and I can't wait to see it!

This movie is based off the internationally best selling novel of the same name...a book I am downloading as we speak to my kindle.  What could better for a little beach reading than a novel about a boy adrift at sea with zoo animals as his only company? I plan on knowing every detail of the story before the movie comes out...I don't want to be bothered with a storyline when there is so much to see : )  Can't wait!

Can't wait!!! : "The Campaign"

Here is my suggestion - whenever you are feeling fed up with the never-ending presidential campaign...watch the preview for the upcoming movie "The Campaign" starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis.

I am obsessed with politics...I don't love politics...I don't even like it...I just can't seem to look away.  And because of that, I have been in a state of irritation and frustration for what seems like a full year.  I came across this preview at the perfect moment the other day.  I felt like I was on the verge of a huge tirade when I saw it.  I have not  laughed that hard in a very long time.  Ferrell and Galifianakis...two people I can not wait to see fight it out.

My favorite part...the "kiss the baby" part. 

Why could this not come out tomorrow?  Everyone needs a good laugh right about now.

Can't Wait: "The Perks of Being a Wallflower"

Over the years, there have plenty of movies that have made us reminisce about high school, but I prefer the ones that focus on all of the quirky people out there- the relative wallflowers - the individuals .  All of those people who could look outside of the moment, which most of can agree, was basically miserable.  For those of us who got caught up in the mindset that high school was actually going to mean something four years later, it is nice to look back with the perspective of "now" and realize, that we were wrong.  High school is a snapshot, a polaroid picture, that can be remembered or reviled.  No matter how you feel about it...the experience lasts for such a short time...but the memories stay with you for what seems like forever. 

Here's to the wallflower...the most observant of us all.

Can't wait: "Celeste and Jesse Forever"

Have you seen this?

I watched this preview for "Celeste and Jessie Forever"  last night and by the end of it, I had all kinds of questions rolling through my head.  I LOVE this kind of movie! - the kind that addresses the absolutes in life.  Most of us were friends, if not best friends, with our significant others before we were married.  And though I may not know what will happen in the next 50 years (I am choosing to be optimistic here), I do know this:  Jason will always be my best friend, no matter what happens, that is my absolute.  If you are not friends, then what is the foundation on which you built your love?

The question must be asked, is friendship enough? Can you be friends, fall in love and then realize one day that you are back to being just friends? Is it worse to lose love or friendship? 




I know I am already rooting for Celeste and Jessie...but I have a feeling that I may leave the theater absolutely crushed.
