The Friday Five...

I have some catching up to do.  I have not posted a Friday Five in a couple weeks...not because there haven't been bright moments in my days...I just haven't been able to get into my office, or sit at my desk comfortably.  Now, things are looking better and feeling better too!

So, here I go, catching up on some happy moments from the past couple of weeks...

{ We celebrated Jason's birthday with fresh strawberry cheesecake. The girls get more
excited every year about new ways to surprise and celebrate him.  I LOVE it : )  }

{ A night out with friends under one of Charlotte's  most recognizable landmarks...the JFG sign }

{ One more project is marked off my list...only one more to go : )  I LOVE the way it turned out! }

{ One of my last days of freedom before my accident...going to see a movie during
the day...by myself. Still one of my favorite things to do }

{ Isabella fell in love with the baby ducklings at the petting zoo.  They were too cute! }

The Friday Five...

Well...this week did not turn out the way I thought it would. I had all these good intentions, but plans changed every day as one thing after another popped up and needed my attention.  I did have some time work on my office this week though...and thankfully, it's almost done. I have been living in this room for months now, which has definitely slowed down the process...but, at the same time, I have realized how much I am loving all the changes.  I can't wait to show you when it's complete, which will hopefully be next week : )

{ Started the week off right with some pretzel sticks and beer cheese dip at Heist Brewery}

{ I was so excited to find these two books while I was in Nashville- a book to record
all of the crazy things the girls say and a journal for moms and their daughters. }

{After collecting spindles of all sizes and shapes, I am glad to finally have them set up and ready to go }

{ The never-ending project that is my office is almost done.  Two projects I worked on this
week is a chalkboard wall calendar and Jason FINALLY installed my light!!!  So happy : ) }

{ LOVE billy buds!!! And now I have some of my very own for my office }

The Friday Five...

Last week was all about getting ready for my annual weekend getaway with my high school girlfriends. We went to NASHVILLE this year...and it was nothing like I though it would be...and everything I wanted it to be.  I wanted to share Nashville with you as soon as I got back, but I have been trying to get life back to normal this week, which took a lot more time and energy than I thought it would.  I mean, I was only gone for three days!

Anyway, next week, I am Nashville bound...at least in pictures : ) Until then, here are a few things I LOVED this past week...

{ This cowboy may be my favorite of all time.  He was the greeter at the door of what turned
out to be my favorite architectural salvage store in Franklin, TN.  LOVE him! }

{ In preparation for my trip, I bought a new camera bag, that looks nothing like a camera bag.
 I LOVE it!  Finally, I can go everywhere without looking like a tourist...even though I might be : )  }

{ I arrived home from my trip to find that my new specs arrived while I was gone.  Ink black and
ballet pink two-tone frames : )  Lookmatic will go down in history as one of my favorite finds of all time! }

{ We got to do a lot of things in Nashville, but I think The Patterson House was a favorite for many
of us.  Can't go wrong with a secretive "depression era" style speakeasy .  }

{ When I got home...I was greeted at the door with flowers and the sweetest letter
from my family.  I should go away more often : )  Blessed! }

The Friday Five...

BUSY! That is what I have been this past week.  And things will actually not be slowing down for a couple more days.  I love being busy, but I can't stop yawning this morning. Here are a few of the things we have been up to this week...

{ "The Blue Bike"... my latest painting in my ongoing love of bikes.  I finished it
just in time to donate it to my best friend's school fundraiser }

{ Had the sweetest photo shoot with this little one...is there anything cuter than when their feet are the only thing they need to occupy themselves for hours? So sweet! }

{ In celebration of Read Across America week...all class rooms at the girls' school decorated
their doors to look like book covers.  I helped out Ava's class with a little Ramona Quimby : ) }

{ There's nothing wrong with brunch Louisiana style...beignets and a bloody mary }

{ the girls' first experience with beignets was a messy affair...
but who doesn't love doughnuts in any form? }

The Friday Five...

What a difference a week makes. Last week...a crazy snowstorm. This week...the big thaw, with warm days and cool nights.  I had a hard time getting back on track this week.  It felt a little like I was coming out of hibernation : )  Anyway...here are my five moments from this week.

{ Just lounging with the windows open... a warm sun and a cool breeze as my only companions...
except for Izzy's horse of course : ) }

{ Talk about making yourself comfortable...Bella learned that Pooh Bear is not just a
trusty companion, he also makes a very comfortable pillow }

{ Appreciating some new music this week... }

{ Sledding in full snow attire last week...practicing for "Jump Rope for Heart"
in a sundress this week...who knew? }

{ The best day from this week...celebration dinner with my dad.  He has finished his radiation
treatment and is hopefully well on his way to being cancer free : )  I LOVE YOU DAD! }

The Friday Five...

This week was an odd one to say the least...

You may have heard that there was a snowstorm that has been making it's way across the Eastern United States. North Carolina has not seen this much snow since 2005!  Plans changed rather quickly once the storm came rolling in, so we had to get a little creative with ways to entertain the kids...even though they would have been happy with sledding and playing in the snow the entire time : )

{ This little guy was my shopping companion while I was stocking up for the big storm.
He was feasting on some cabbage and broccoli and I decided we could do without : )  }

{ This is the view from my front door...once the wind died down and the snow
began to collect on the trees, it was a beautiful sight }

{ I got to to introduce "snow cream" to the kids!  They LOVED it! }

{ Jason was getting a little stir crazy, so he went out to "explore"/ test the 4 wheel drive out . He was having a great time until this guy showed up.  Now, whenever the girls see one, they say "Look, there's another party pooper  : )  }

{ Three snow days means doing a lot of leftover Christmas crafts...I was getting a little desperate! }

The Friday Five...

{ Enjoying a sweet treat with the girls to celebrate 100 days of school.
This little stinker is pretty proud of herself : ) }

{ We stopped into the Guglhupf bakery in Durham this past weekend.  I loved it!
Amazing interior...and super good coffee and pastries! }

{ Krispy Kreme is certainly ready for Valentine's Day! If I were only half this prepared : ) }

{ Very proud of my Ava this week! She auditioned for her first school play.
For all the time I spent worrying about it, she didn't get nervous at all.  So proud of her !  }

{ This is "SugarPlum"...or maybe "Violet"...Isabella goes back and forth.   Anyway, she is
the new addition to the family and she is officially Isabella's responsibility.
We are starting off small : )  }

The Friday Five...

{ First snow of the year here in Charlotte- a couple of inches is a big deal here.
The bunny tracks were a big hit at our house. }

{ Looking forward to making some cute thank you cards using these die-cut paper
"thank yous" I found at the craft store. }

{ Received my peacock print in the mail from Society 6.
It's one of the last additions to my office and I can't wait to get it framed }

{ Opened the fridge today and found this...
I know one 5 year old who is not happy that the snow is melting away : )  }

{ Date night with my favorite guy.  A couple super-sized pretzels, an amazing chocolate porter
and some conversation with one of my all-time favorite people is just what I needed : ) }

The Friday Five...

All of this week's five came from a spur of the moment day trip to the mountains to find snow.  Jason and I looked at the forecast on Monday...saw that there was a 90% chance of snow in the mountains on Tuesday...and we were on our way earlier Tuesday morning.  I LOVE taking the kids on mini adventures when they least expect it.  It keeps us young : )

{ a little light reading for our road trip to the mountains }

{ When your children steal your shoelaces to play cat's cradle...
you may be forced to steal the strings from their Melissa & Doug stitching cards : )  }

{ Isabella found it a little difficult to move her head naturally once she had all of her cold
weather gear on. I couldn't look at her without thinking of "Randy" from A Christmas Story }

{ Snow...we found it...and it was COLD!
The girls were troopers though and fun was had by all!  }

{ One of my favorite photos of our trip...
perfect representation of how pretty and how sad COLD can be at the same time }
